Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed the Jammu Martyrs’ Day, today, to reaffirm the resolve to continue the martyrs’ mission till the realization of the Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination.
Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were massacred by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian Army and Hindu fanatics affiliated with RSS and other communal organizations in different parts of Jammu region while they were migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November in 1947.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the massacre of Jammu as the worst chapter of the history of Jammu and Kashmir. It paid rich tributes to the Jammu martyrs and said that their sacrifices would never be allowed to go waste. Other Hurriyat organizations including Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement and Young Men’s League in their statements deplored that the colonial and fascist mindset that carried out Jammu carnage in 1947 was even today busy in massacring Kashmiri youth without any remorse or regret.
Meanwhile, normal life remained badly affected in the Kashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu and Ladakh regions as unprecedented and inhuman lockdown continued on 94th consecutive day, today. Communications links including internet and prepaid mobile connections remain totally snapped. People are observing mass civil disobedience to show their strong resentment against India’s brutal occupation. Shops are shut and public transport is off the roads.
Indian troops thrashed and critically injured three persons in Hamhama area of Srinagar without any reason.
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League in a statement issued in Srinagar warned the so-called mainstream Kashmiri politicians against harming the just cause of freedom by colluding with the BJP-led fascist Indian government. It said that those Kashmiri politicians who would facilitate RSS and BJP in any manner in occupied Kashmir would be considered the enemies of Kashmiris and hence dealt with sternly by the masses.
IN Brussels, AJK Prime Minister, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, addressing a media conference in connection with Kashmir EU Week at the European Parliament said that India had violated the UN resolutions on Kashmir by bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir and diluting its special status. A seminar was also held at the European Parliament during which the participants discussed the latest situation in occupied Kashmir. The seminar was chaired by MEP Shaffaq Mohammad and addressed by a large number of speakers including Raja Farooq Haider Khan, MEPs and Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe, Ali Raza Syed.
